New Year's Celebrations: Jan 10, 2012
 

 

 

 

Consul General of India hosted a Reception at the Consulate’s Ball Room on Tuesday,  January 10, 2012 to celebrate the New Year.  Eminent people from the Indian American community, senior executives, figures from the Art and Culture and leaders and representatives of the local and ethnic media  from the Tri- State area gathered to attend  one of the most memorable Receptions.  
 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Mr. Dayal welcomed the community members and greeted them heartily for the New Year 2012.  He called upon the gathering that even though the world has been passing through the difficult times as with the economic crisis yet the morale of the people should remain high to be able to overcome any hurdles caused by it in achieving their happiness.  To give a boost to this fervor, he invited Mr. Vishal Bhalla, a prominent singer, an ex-semifinalist of Sa-RE-GA-MA musical ecstasy of India to enrich the evening with his select few songs.   Also with a view to commemorate the  birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Ambassador Dayal  requested Mr. Bhalla to recite the legendary speech "I have a dream" of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
 

 

 

 

 

Mr. Bhalla, a magnetic personality, enthralled the hall with his rendition of  Bollywood hits.  He then invigorated the gathering with beautiful poem- " To dream the impossible dreams..." and  followed it by reciting Dr. King's speech.  The assembled guests gave him a thundering applause. 
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ambassador Dayal congratulated the talented Mr. Vishal Bhalla for his wonderful presentation and oration. He said without Mr. Bhalla, we would have not been able to celebrate the New Year as also  Dr. Martin Luther King day.

 

 


Around 150 people attended the Reception and shared their festive and joyous sentiments with each other.

 

 

 

The New Year Celebration concluded with a sumptuous dinner replete with Indian delicacies.
