Eid-ul-Fitr Celebrations at the Consulate on August 24, 2012

The Consulate General of India celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr at the Consulate Ball Room on August 24, 2012. The event, featuring Shaam-E-Ghazal by celebrated Ghazal maestro Mr. Sudhir Narain, was attended by 150 persons.

Extending his warm greetings on the auspicious occasion, Ambassador Prabhu Dayal, Consul General of India, said that Eid-ul-Fitr is one of the important and widely celebrated festivals all over the world which brings joy and happiness on the culmination of the holy month of Ramzan. Ambassador Dayal told the audience that he had the privilege of serving in many Muslim countries and pleasure of hosting Eid-ul-Fitr in Dubai, Kuwait and Rabat. Recalling his school and college days in Allahabad, he said that he used to celebrate this event with his Muslim friends.

Shri Sudhir Narain, an accomplished Ghazal, Bhajan and semi-classical singer, enthralled the audience with his two-hour long non-stop Ghazal singing. His sublime voice and the subtlety with which he presented the Ghazals aroused instant applause and admiration from the audience.

Dr. Anita Soni, a talented singer of high calibre, also recited poems and Ghazals to the delight of the audience.
