          The celebrity actress Freida Pinto who has achieved acclamation and fame for her role in “Slumdog Milliionaire” visited the Indian Consulate today (February 25, 2009) and called on the Consul General of India.  She said that although her schedule was very busy, she was thrilled to visit the Consulate as it is regarded as a historical and heritage building.

 

          Consul General Prabhu Dayal congratulated her on her outstanding success which had brought great acclaim not only for the movie but to India itself.  He said that it was not important whether the movie was directed by an Indian or not as long as the storyline and the entire backdrop was Indian.  He commended the movie for focusing attention on slum children in India and said that the ball was now in the court of every Indian to do their utmost for improving the lives of such children and ensuring that they are imparted good education.  Consul General said that in is view this was a task which had to be undertaken after the thumbing success of “Slumdog Millionaire”.
