HomeWhat's New/ Announcements › VRIKSH - Indian Timber Legality Assessment and Verification Scheme by Export Promotion Council of India (EPCH)

India’s Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) launched VRIKSH – Indian Timber Legality Assessment and Verification Scheme in 2013 to ensure usage of legal wood by Indian exporters in wooden handicrafts items. EPCH is the nodal agency to issue certificate on the due diligence towards procurement of wood from legal sources.

EPCH has been authorized by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) to issue comparable document in lieu of CITES permit for exports of wooden handicrafts made from the two species namely Dalbergia sissoo [sheesham] and Dalbergia latifolia [rosewood] by MoEFCC (Indian CITES Management Authority).

Details about the scheme are available at www.vrikshindia.in.
